GERRI DE LA SALT MUSEUM OF SALT
The Museum of Gerri de la Sal is located in the old salt warehouse. The building consists of a more or less square floor plan of 650 m² per floor with three floors and an attic. On the ground floor you will discover how salt can be made if we are so far from the sea!
The museum consists of three parts divided into four halls. In the first two naves, you will discover the work that was done in the warehouse: the throwing, the weighing, the types of salt that were made and how it was distributed. In the third nave, through four audiovisuals and four models, you will discover the work that was done in the salt mine: From the moment the water comes out of the spring, and what had to be done to transform this water into salt, you will also find out how they worked the salt in Gerri and also where the salt was kept during the production period. Finally, in the last building there is a 5-minute audiovisual presentation explaining how salt was made in Gerri and why it had to be abandoned, the Museum also has a farm shop with products from the region such as Gerri ratafia, Roser salt, Noguera Pallaresa biscuits, natural soaps and many other products.
