GERBER LAKE

3 lakes to visit.

 

The Vall de Gerber, of glacial origin, is located on the north-eastern edge of Aigüestortes, near the village of Esterri d'Àneu (Pallars Sobirà).

 

The route starts at the La Peülla car park, from where ski lifts start in the snowy season. From there, after crossing a small stream, we start a slight ascent towards the valley. There are basically four points of interest along the route: l'Estanyola de Gerber or l'Estanyera (a small glacial lake located about 40 minutes from the car park), l'Estany Petit (another lake of crystalline waters, 1h 10′ away), l'Estany de Gerber (the large lake that marks the end of the route, 1h 30′ away) and a small waterfall located at the end of the route.

 

Apart from these key places, the whole route is extraordinarily beautiful. You will see that the Gerber Lake -the end of the route- is well signposted from the beginning, so there is no problem to find your way around.
