WINE BORD AND VIU WINERY OF THE BATLLIU DE SORT

Five friends, passionate about wine and the Pallars Sobira region, wanted to revive wine production in the municipality of Sort and revive an activity that had been lost two hundred years ago. On the Barreró estate, owned by the Counts of Pallars, in 2007 they planted 6 hectares of Viognier, Riesling and black Pinot Noir grapes. Over the years, the Batlliu de Sort winery has finally released its first high mountain wines from the 2010 and 2011 vintages (grown at an altitude of 900 metres): the Biu Negro (Pinot Noir) and the Biu Blanco (Pinot Noir and Viognier).

 

The winery is located in a setting of great visual beauty, surrounded by deciduous forests, on the slopes of the Noguera Pallaresa River and in the vicinity of the Aigüestortes National Park and Sant Maurici Lake. At Batlliu de Sort they have a special way of publicising their activity, thanks to a complete experience (with prior reservation) that includes a visit to the vineyards, a trek through the mountains and, to finish, a wine and cheese pairing, provided by a local cheese factory.
