The Natural Park of the High Pyrenees is a beautiful and large natural space that allows all those who enter the place a good contact with the superb natural environment of the region as well as the interesting artistic and cultural heritage. The Alto Pirineo Natural Park is part of Pallars Sobirà and Alto Urgell, managing to occupy an important part of the area of the central Catalan Pyrenees of Lleida.
With its more than 698 km2, the Alto Pirineo Natural Park is the largest natural park in all of Catalonia. This park was created in 2003 to preserve the natural, historical and cultural wealth that reigns in the region. Note that most of the routes that you can find in this natural park are very easy routes, routes that do not present a high level of difficulty for its visitors, although it is important to say that many of them are advisable to do in periods in which There is no snow on the way.
The Alto Pirineo Natural Park, together with the Boumort National Hunting Reserve and the
Aiguestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, have converted the beautiful and green region of Pallars Sobirà into one of the regions of Catalonia and the Pyrenees currently more protected.
One of the most famous routes in the place is the Route of the Sanctuaries, a route of very easy and simple difficulty that becomes very pleasant, a perfect route to do with the whole family.
The duration is approximately one hour and a half, a path that runs from Gerri de la Sal to Baro and has a slight slope that reaches approximately 150 meters. Throughout the entire journey you will be able to see places of special interest such as the Monastery of Santa María, the Hermitage of the Virgen del Árbol, the Casa de la Sal, the walled town or the Romanesque bridge.
Another of the most popular paths in the place is the Walk through the Enchanted Forest, a tour that lasts approximately three hours in total. This route is divided into two parts, on the one hand, from Peramea to Balestiu (50 minutes) and on the other hand, from Balestiu to Borda de Cossant (2 hours), the first of the paths being very flat and simple, while the the second is a bit steeper, but without major complications for its realization.
The maximum slope it presents is 350 meters. During the tour you will enjoy truly amazing panoramic views and vegetation of great beauty, a route where you can enjoy contemplating monuments such as the Colomers tower, the church of Sant Cristofol or the rock of the Castell.
