This route runs through the Siarb valley, which goes from the port of El Cantó to the banks of the Noguera Pallaresa. In the surroundings of Soriguera there are still unusual corners to discover.
The itinerary through the Soriguera valley, formerly known as the Siarb valley, begins in Sort. This town is reached from La Seu d'Urgell along the N-260 road towards the port of El Cantó. Less than ten kilometers from Sort, along the same N-260 in the direction of La Seu d'Urgell, is Vilamur, the old nerve center of the valley that preserves, in its parish church dedicated to La Mare de Déu de la Medina, a Roman door and apse. We continue along the same road and, at km 19.6, we reach the Santa Creu hill and its archaeological site; We parked the car and walked upstairs.
This site, the highest in Catalonia, keeps the remains of an ancient settlement dating from 1500 BC and which was definitively abandoned between the 12th and 13th centuries. Remains of house walls, alleys, the defense wall, the circular tower, two ditches opened in the rock and a church have been recovered.
Next, we go back along the N-260 road to head, taking a detour to the left, to Llagunes, where the Center d'Itineraris de Natura and the Museu Monogràfic del Jaciment Arqueològic del Despoblat Medieval de la Santa Creu de les Llagunes are located. . We return to the main road (the N-260). A little further on, we must take another detour to the left that leads to Soriguera, a town on the slopes of the mountain due to the narrowness of the El Cantó river valley. From there a paved track starts that reaches Puiforniu.
We cross Puiforniu, a town grouped around the church of Santa Cecília, and arrive at the crossroads of the track with the LV-5131 road, which goes up from El Hostal Nou. We must turn left towards Tornafort.
The old center of Tornafort is located on top of a hill. Later, when you take the same LV-5131 road again to exit onto the N-260 and go down to Sort again, you will find a detour to the left that leads to Malmercat, where a remarkable stately building is preserved, known as the name of the Bielsa castle.
